Santa Maria is a census-designated place (CDP) in Cameron County, Texas, United States. The population was 733 at the 2010 census, down from 846 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Brownsville–Harlingen Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Santa Maria is located near the southwest corner of Cameron County at 26°4′41″N 97°50′53″W / 26.07806°N 97.84806°W / 26.07806; -97.84806 (26.077955, -97.847926).U.S. Route 281 passes through, leading southeast 27 miles (43 km) to Brownsville and west 26 miles (42 km) to Hidalgo. The community is about one mile north of the Rio Grande, which forms the Mexico–United States border.
